Abstract

An RDF/OWL vocabulary within the European LOD-RoadTran18 action "Supporting the cross-border use of Road Traffic. Data with Linked Open Data based on DATEX II (LOD-RoadTran18)" (Agreement No: INEA/CEF/ICT/A2018/1803421, Action No: 2018-EU-IA-0088).
This specific ontology is linked since the main dtx_srti to identificate the road administration area detailed in the classes LinearWithinLinearElement or PointAlongLinearElement and, for TPEG descriptions with the following enumeration literals "other", "townname", "regionName", "administrativeAreaName".

Ontology to define the concepts related to the identification of the road administration area.
In Spain, the Administrative Areas: municipalities, provinces, etc. are encoded using the INE (Statistics National Institute) code (https://www.ine.es/daco/daco42/codmun/codmunmapa.htm) and it is also the code used by the DGT in DATEX II XML. For this reason, we think the  convenience to link the main ontology with the already defined ontology of the IGN National Geographic Institute called BTN100, where they define these Administrative Areas and in addition to the name attribute, they use the CodigoINE property  (https://datos.ign.es/def/btn100/index-es.html#UnidadAdministrativa  ). On the other hand, we also use the Eurostat geographic ontology (https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/ontologies/geographic.rdf) and the nuts repository (https://data.europa.eu/euodp/repository/ec/estat/nuts/nuts.rdf ).

LOD SRTI DATEX II ADU: Description back to ToC

The ontology differentiates between the classification of Administrative Units in Spain (AdmUnitOfSpain) and in the Czech Republic (AdmUnitOfCzechia). Both concepts are subclasses of the AdministrativeUnit class, the main concept of the ontology.

The Spanish part is mainly based on the Vocabulary for the representation of territory data (http://vocab.linkeddata.es/datosabiertos/def/sector-publico/territorio ), which includes the administrative divisions in Spain.

Regarding the Czech part, among other aspects, highlights the use of the NUTS code accessible as a resource at http://data.europa.eu/nuts/code/ .
Both use the properties belongTo and ComposedOf (and their inverses) that allow the different levels of administrative units to be related.

The concept that allows linking with the main ontology of DATEX II is AdministrativeUnit, subclass of AdministrativeArea and in turn of Geographical region (http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/ontologies/geographic.rdf#Region).
